For the first time in ages, boyzone filmed a video in Dublin - well, about an hour outside Dublin, to be exact, You Needed Me was shot in a beautiful location in Co.Wicklow - which turned out to be very handy for Stephen, who lives nearby!

The people responsible for the making of the video are Boyzone's brand new video making friends - the same talented team who created the fantastic comic Relief video. Call them crazy, but they were brave enough to come back for more.

Everybody knows by now (mainly because the Boys never stop going on about it), that Boyzone hate making videos. But they didn't mind have too much to complain about at this one, since there was only one set (no walking around for endless complicated set changes), and they also only had one outfit to change into. But, as you can imagine, they still managed to whinge a little bit.

When you catch the video, you'll no doubt agree (we hope), that the boys were looking very nice in their smart dark suits and ties. But even so, cheeky Keith still managed to find a joke - reckoning he looked like he was dressed up and ready to make a court appearance in his suit! Tsk.

The YNM set was simple but striking. Some poor video making person had obviously been at the studio from a very early hour, hanging beautiful and ornate (but picture less) picture frames of all different sizes in long rows from the studio rafters. And not one of them fell down once.

After a quick run through of the song in his head, to make sure he could still remember all the words, Ronan was the first to start filming. All he had to do was stroll up and down the rows of frames - and the shot was so informal and laid back he looked like he was still rehearsing his words!

It took forever to drag Mikey onto the set to shoot the first band shot of the day. He was found in a dark corner of the studio, getting to grips with his brand new hands free mobile phone answering apparatus. He refused to un-clip it from his suit lapel all day.

A special mention should go to lovely Stephen , when he heard that a very long time (and hugely loyal) Boyzone fan called Lisa was waiting bravely outside the studios to say hello to him. He asked a crew member to go out and fetch her inside to watch, then spent the day bringing her cakes so she didn't go hungry! Bless

Another special mention goes to Ronan, who, with baby Jack due to make his appearance at any moment. Was a bit of a hysterical heap. Equipped with only a mobile phone, but a special baby pager too, he ended up in bits every time anybody's phone rang!

Each band member was required to film a couple of solo video segments each, which always created plenty of comedy moments amongst the remaining four boys. In all the years the band have been filming videos, silliness of constantly trying to put one another off - and finding the whole process of doing so highly amusing. Thank heaven for that - because it's actually very entertaining to watch.

Also quite entertaining to watch were the boys' playback committee meetings, when the video director invited the band to gather round the monitor to take a look at the progress of filming after each shot. They spent most of the time winding each other up about the way they looked!

And as usual, poor Stephen ended up with the roughest deal. As he left the set after his first solo bit, only slightly traumatised, Ronan was still not done.. "Stephen that was fab-you were gooorgeous!" he gushed, in his most OTT showbiz voice. And Stephen's response? Well we're sorry, but we can't tell you about that here, we're afraid

Study the YNM video hard (go on force yourself!), and try and work out what it is that Shane has poking out of the corner of his mouth Oh OK then, we'll tell you. Mr Lynch spent the entire day chewing on the same plastic teaspoon - and wouldn't even take it out for artistic filming purposes! He's lucky he didn't breathe in too fast and end up with any plastic spoon medical emergencies Don't try this at home!

Photo frame close ups also caused many comedy moments, when the boys chose their favourite frames to pose behind while the camera zoomed in. Stephen has the hardest time making up his mind, so the rest of the boys took it upon themselves to choose a frame for him - and they picked the tiniest one!

As lunchtime approached, the atmosphere wasn't getting any more serious. When the band checked out playback on the monitor, after they'd just filmed a segment where all the boys walked in a supposedly artistic fashion in a row between frames. Ronan decided they all looked like a bunch of greyhounds lined up for a race to the other end of the studio! Lovely

The studio was a Boyzone free zone during the video lunch break. All the boys piled into Ronan's car and zoomed over to Stephen's house to just up the road, where he made tea and sandwiches while everybody raided his posh popcorn making machine!

By the afternoon, the boys were officially in love with their gorgeous Armani suits, and were all trying to persuade Alex the stylist to let them take the suits home. Sensible Alex wasn't having his arm twisted easily

Before shooting kicked off again after Lunch, Boyzone had a photo shoot session to do, which unfortunately interfered with the boys' telephone activities. Every time poor photographer ray went to click, somebody's phone would ring. And then the telephone song would kick off. The telephone song, you ask? Well, that involved the boys yelling at the top of their voices, "Mickey (or whoever's phone has rung) is on the phone! Mikey is on the phone!" until the phone is hung up again. Oh dear!

Heaven only knows what the boys had in their sandwiches at Stephen's house. As evening approached, he was running about the studio armed with Alex's clothes roll (it's a sticky cylinder which removes bits of dust from fabric" attacking anyone who crossed his path with it.

The final shot of the day was a bit of a complicated but beautiful one involving shadows - of the boys mainly - but several unsuspecting volunteers were dragging in from amongst the video shooting audience to make extra scenes. See how many you can spot!

On day two of shooting, the studio was much busier than the other day before, due to the huge number of extras who had arrived to film alongside the boys. Mikey had brought his Mum Sheila along to watch too -along with daughter Hannah, who was delighted when Keith arrived with Jordan in Tow!

The pair set about keeping everybody entertained while the boys spent the final couple of hours finishing their filming against a special background. In between these takes the band were deep in boys' talk - so deep they almost missed the special snowstorm Jordan and Hannah created, with the aid of broken bits of polystyrene blocks!

This second day of filming was probably the shortest day of Boyzone video filming ever, lucky for them. But before they could leave they ended up having to sign an autograph for almost every single one of the video extras - who still had a whole afternoon of filming to get through, so it was the least the boys could do
