Release Date:
May 10th
Following
the success of their recent Number One hit, Boyzone will release
'You Needed Me' as their brand new single through Polydor Records
on May 10th. 'You Needed Me' will be the first single to be taken
from the groups long awaited Greatest Hits album.
The album called
'By Request' will be released on May 31st. 'You Needed Me' originally
enjoyed chart success with Canadian Born singer Anne Murray, for
which she won a Grammy Award in 1978. Boyzone have added their own
inevitable touch and style to the track making it very much their
own. Produced by Steve Mac, who has worked with the boys on their
last two hit singles, the track feature a lush string arrangement,
which slowly builds throughout the song.
The video was
shot on the boy's home turf in Dublin and was directed by Kevin
Godley, the man responsible for Boyzone's star-studded Comic Relief
video and U2's 'Sweetest Thing' Video, which also included Boyzone.
You can see the boys perform this track along with many more hits
when they take to the road for their Greatest Hits tour. The tour
kicks off on May 4th in Brighton, culminating in an open-air concert
at the RDS in Dublin on May 30th, marking the album launch. Predictably
enough, despite adding 10 extra tour dates to the tour, all the
tickets have sold out.
