Keith
was once an architecture student, and when he was 18 he was also
a drummer for the band 'The Burning Effigy' and a covers band
called 'Toledo Moon'. He already knew Shane at the time of the
auditions and was very keen to meet up with Louis Walsh. He didn't
have much luck, but by coincidence Louis spotted him one night
up on stage at the POD, and invited him along to the second round
of the auditions. He performed Billy Joel's song 'Piano Man',
and like the rest of the band he did a dance routine to Right
Said Fred's 'I'm Too Sexy'.

The
Best Thing About Being In Boyzone:
"My favourite bit is being up on stage performing. You get appreciation
from the crowd and it makes you feel like a wonderful person"
What
kind of product would you like to see invented during the 21st
century?
I'd like someone to invent a Tardis - a phone box time machine
like Dr. Who had. Then I could get back home a lot quicker, cut
out all the flying time we do. That would be good.
What
do you think has been the best invention of your lifetime so far?
Well I have to say this is the best, but it can be the worst invention
as well - the mobile phone! Obviously it's the best because it
keeps me in touch with me family while i'm away from home working,
but it's also the worst because it means that people can always
track you down wherever you are. But I couldn't have done without
it while I've been in Boyzone, I have to say...
What have been your favourite bands/artists of the 1990's?
I really like the New Radicals, I like them a lot at the moment.
That single Get What You Give was really good. A really rocky
song. Everybody knows what I like a bit of rock music, and there's
been a lot of good rock groups around during this decade. I'm
a really big fan of Bon Jovi, they've been around for ages.
What
new bands/artists of this year are you looking forward to hearing
more from in the year 2000?
I loved Macy Gray's single I Try. It's a really really good song,
so I went out and bought her album, On How Life Is, which is brilliant.
Hopefully she's going to do well next year, I just think she's
brilliant, it's a really good album.
Who
would you give a millennium award to?
Probably Mo Mowlam (the former Secretary for Northern Ireland),
for all the efforts she's made for peace in Northern Ireland.
That's obviously something that means a lot to me, and it's always
been an important issue during my lifetime too.
What
5 items would you bury in a time capsule for people to learn more
about your life in the 20th century?
A few Boyzone records... A few photographs of me! A bottle of
Jack Daniels, a nice bottle of red wine, maybe from 1974, the
year I was born - I have one of those here in the house actually
- and a glass, just in case I decide to dig up me own time capsule!
A couple of golf clubs. And a couple tea bags and teapot! And
our live video, the one that was shot at the RDS. That's too many
things isn't it? Sorry! it'd have to be a big box...
What
will be your motto for the year 2000?
Plenty of hard work and a positive mind!
What
were the Boyzone highlights of 1999?
Releasing the greatest hits album was a great achievement... The
concert we did at the RDS, that was our biggest ever. That show
was good craic, pulling me trousers off and stuff like that! I
really enjoyed recording the Audience With The Bee Gees show aswell,
that was a great day.
